Olive's Iris Guest Room

After Texas won its independence from Mexico in 1836 the doors were open to 1000s’ of European settlers. Women brought the textile skills passed down through succeeding generations with them. In Texas, the quilt became both a necessity and a valued domestic art that built bridges between ethnicity, family, and community. The quilt became an important part of everyday life. Snuggle under the quilt in the American Quilt Room featuring a kind-sized bed and a private bathroom. Quilting - a genuine American heritage skill.
